Packing time! This was my favorite part of the pre-Camino phase. To be clear, I am not a girl who shops every weekend or is particularly materialistic, so I was surprised how much I enjoyed shopping for this trip. I do love problem solving and when you have to pack for six weeks and fit all of your items into a large backpack (that you may be carrying on your back for weeks on end) it becomes a challenge! I had so much fun talking to people at REI and pilgrim alumni about what to bring and what not to bring for the journey.
The pilgrimage started to feel real to me when I tried on my gear and received Amazon packages in the mail. It also helped with my training. I wanted to make sure the gear I selected felt right and everything that needed to be broken in was broken in before I departed.
To sum it up, you are going to need two hiking outfits, your hiking gear, street clothes and some creature comforts you may not be able to find in Spain. For more details please check out my blog post here.
